Good Morning President Obama

Posted: November 5, 2008, 08:58 AM by Leslie Grossman

Waking up this morning, I smell "hope" in the air, rather than the familiar smell of coffee. What a welcome fragrance! It truly fills my entire body. I usually never use the word "hope," cause for me it is not a word of action - and I like action. But with the economic debacle, we all need hope in order to take action....and thanks to the election of President Obama - which is truly extraordinary for so many reasons - we can all have the hope needed to move forward and get the economy moving again.

So let's do it, women business owners, executives, professionals and leaders. With a new leader of our country at the helm, together we can fight this economy and turn it around. As we always say at WLE, let's support each other. Let's not be in fear. Let's go out there and do business. Starting right now! Congratulations, President Obama. And congratulations, America, for being what our forefathers and sisters envisioned, even though they could never have envisioned the huge step we have just taken!

Forgive the commercial - but there's 2 BIG opportunities to generate new business around the corner - the NY Summit (Nov. 13) and the Atlanta Conference (Nov. 18). I'll be there and can't wait to meet you. More at www.womensleadershipexchange.com.

It's great to read everyone comments - all different views coming from different backgrounds. This freedom of expression is what America is all about. It was interesting to read Jeani's post stating that I had told readers to support McCain, when in fact I did not. However, that must have been what she surmised due to my efforts to be "neutral" and not publicly endorse any candidate. Now that the election is over I can tell you that I initially supported Senator Clinton and continued to do so until she threw her support to Obama. At that point, I followed her lead and the more I read about him, the more I felt that our next president needed vision more than experience. America needs leadership and I am convinced he brings great leadership to America and the world.

I celebrate every day thanks be to God.  A woman business owner for more than 30 years I've yet to figure the hoopla about the economy.  My economy thrives.

I create our successes along a marvelous team who support my vision and my dreams.  Southern bred we don't rely on politics to reinvent themselves.  I appreciate my elected officials and pray for all who serve.  Who they serve or what they serve can be questionable.

I'm glad the Obama voters are excited.  I pray you won't be disappointed waiting on change in policies.  A lot of business will have gone to someone else, someone who hasn't their eye focused on a kitchen filled with cooks who can't decide on the right measures.

May God bless you.  God bless this wondrous land as only He knows best.

I prefer to wait and see.  Promises are easily made by candidates but in reality most are broken.  Depend upon yourselves and your family and friends and networking with strangers who have the same motivation and goals to get to your dream.  The politicians aren't miracle workers and it's a belief in a higher power and one's self and taking action to keep going and keep climbing the ladder of success that makes people different in good or bad times.  I personally prefer reform over change because increasing taxes on corporations who will cut more jobs and benefits and taxing 401ks and capital gains will not help people buy homes or retire early, but I don't want to burst your bubble, so I'll remain hopeful.  I know who McCain and Palin are but I am not as confident as to the true person Obama is.

When I arrived in this country in 1979 leaving a long list of challenges behind in England and Scotland, I knew that this country would be good for me.  I knew I could transform my life here and I did.  It has become my homeland.  While I have never been particularly political, I was excited enough about Bill Clinton to look forward to a change. Even with all his faults, I was disappointed when he left office. GWB never inspired me EVER.

But this time, I have been sucked into it with all my heart for the last two years, and know all the MSNBC and CNN pundits like family.  Yesterday when I awoke, before I got out of bed, I prayed that Obama would take the presidency. I have never done that before, but it somehow seemed right. I was exalted when he took Pennsylvania and I knew it was a home run.  Last night, I cried, hollered and whooped harder than at any other time for a presidential candidate, and I rise on the crest of the wave that says YES WE CAN and WE WILL.

My whole life has been about CHANGE, and I\'m a firm believer in the possibilities of doing whatever it is you put your mind to. We will begin to heal this country and move forward. But please, please, please don\'t think he\'s going to do this without a great deal of effort and support.  We will all need to cultivate some real compassion for the man, the vision and the ability to pull this country out of the unholy mess we\'ve been in for years. We will ALL need to do our part to put the pieces back together again.  This is our country.  This is our land. Thank God for men and women with heart and vision.  It\'s the foundation of all the good stuff that happens here.  Thanks Leslie for being a mensch.

I am so glad to read this email because when you told your readers to support McCain, I actually asked to be removed

from your email listing.  Especially because McCain has no regard from a woman\'s right to choose in specific

circumstances.   WE CAN ALL CELEBRATE NOW.  THANK GOD.

Barack Obama operates at a level of consciousness and velocity like we have not experienced in our life time.  And it makes me feel that we are on path to Unity.  The depth of heart and authenticity that he projects is refreshing.  If one looks at Barack\'s history and all that he has done for such a young man I think it is extraordinary.  When he says that he is going to bring to the table the best minds with all differing perspectives and from a diverse pool of expertise I believe him like I have never believed anyone before.    I think he knows at a cellular level what is UNITY.

America has put it's differences aside and stood together as one for our country.  Together WE CAN do anything.  God Bless America and the "boy from Illinois", president-elect, Barack Obama.

Amen Ladies!!! I woke up for the first time in eight LONG years filled with hope and faith that things will and can be different. I have watched our entire nation fall to ruin hopelessly and with my hands tied. I have witnessed decisions and actions that go against every thread of my being. For the first time in my life I can truly say that I AM willing to make personal sacrifices for the larger good. God Bless this brilliant and gifted man and protect him through his term!

Let's pull together and stop the use of words like 'dangerous' and 'terrible'.  It only serves to continue to divide us as a nation.  And, this is OUR nation - not Obama's nation.  Watching from the sidelines is not the solution to move forward in solving OUR problems.  We all have to roll up our sleeves and do our part to make this the strong nation we are.

I, too, pray for the success of Obama as President. America needs help and hope, especially since I feel he is a dangerous man with an unproven and terrible record. As a trauma therapist I have a different view on a person's past record, associates, etc than others may. I felt that John McCain and Sarah Palin would have been better for our country, especially for business women, entrepreneurs, energy, health care, all that, plus McCain has an honest history and background. However, now we will all see how Obama deals with the future of our country. I do feel fear and trepidation, and I will be closely watching his actions, not his misleading word. Alice Baland, Dallas.
