Good Morning President Obama

Posted: November 5, 2008, 10:22 PM by Leslie Grossman

Waking up this morning, I smell "hope" in the air, rather than the familiar smell of coffee. What a welcome fragrance! It truly fills my entire body. I usually never use the word "hope," cause for me it is not a word of action - and I like action. But with the economic debacle, we all need hope in order to take action....and thanks to the election of President Obama - which is truly extraordinary for so many reasons - we can all have the hope needed to move forward and get the economy moving again. So let's do it, women business owners, executives, professionals and leaders. With a new leader of our country at the helm, together we can fight this economy and turn it around. As we always say at WLE, let's support each other. Let's not be in fear. Let's go out there and do business. Starting right now! Congratulations, President Obama. And congratulations, America, for being what our forefathers and sisters envisioned, even though they could never have envisioned the huge step we have just taken!

I am sorry to hear some feel that many voted for Obama because he was black; not so for me.  I campaigned vigorously for HIllary, but after supporting the Republican ticket for 8 years (yes I am ashamed to say it) I grew tired of one lie after the other.  After losing my cousin in the battle to take Fallujah, after watching Halliburton who is directly linked to Cheney profit on the lives of not only our soldiers but also the Iraqi people.

After hosting a group of Iraqi business women who were secreted to an affair I spearheaded and was not allowed to publish as it would put them in harms way, after seeing our balance budget go to 2 generations of debt(that is my childrens children will owe $176,000) as soon as they are welcomed into this world.  I said enough is enough.  No I did not vote for Obama because he was black I voted for him because I accept full respondibility for the debacle heaped upon us by the previous regime, now thats communism at its best the redistribution of wealth from the wealthy to the wealthy that is what 8 years has done for me made me wealthier by strangling the life out of the middle class.

THE AUDACITY OF HOPE.........................

For everyone\'s information, 46% of this country voted for McCain. I was one of them. I spent 23 years of my life under a comunist regime. I know what "wealth redistribution" looks like and feels like. I know the propaganda and I know the machine.  With all due respect to president-elect Obama, flowery speaches and calls for change and hope (I have heard that before) does not do it for me. His left-wing political tendencies, his unsavory associations and his view of the world are in my estimation a treat to what America represents and to what I hold dear: inividual responsibility, opportunity based on effort and talent (not goverment handouts), small goverment and free markets.

I am of hispanic descent and I would have NEVER, NEVER voted for a Hispanic, just to "make history". This country has elected a man that would have never passed a security clerance to work as an engineer in a military project.

I am removing myself from the subscription to this blog as it is obviously not in line with my values. Good Bye.

Wow, this is unbelievable I wish my grandmother were her to see this.  As a young child I had the priviledge of watching the civil rights movement unfold literally right in front of me, as my grandmother, Tiner Parker was the President of the National Council of Negro Women, here in CT.  She was also the civil rights coordinator for the Farifield County Area back in the 60's.  Little did I know as a young child watching all the action from her skirt hems, singing the song they refer to as our sprititual of hope, "We Shall Overcome", that this vision that was so ingrained in my being  would someday be a reality.  I can still remember the bars, and it goes like this:  We shall overcome, we shall overcome, some day, oh, deep in my heart I do believe, we shall overcome someday.

Well thanks to the many Americans that voted for President-Elect Obama, the songs and struggles of yesterday have become the triumphs of today.  Thank you for making my grandmothers dream and ultimately mine a reality.  Thank you for taking this journey with us.  I remember her kitchen cabinet, women of all nationalities and ages coming together to assist in the voters right crusade where so many perished.

I met these great women of the past Shirley Chisolm, Dorothy Height, Leotyne Price and the everday people, like Mr and Mrs Loser, and Mrs and Mrs. Schwartz, people who all came together because of the unjustices being heaped upon a few.

I am proud to be an American.....

Today, I was thinking about a conversation my son and I had when Joe was 5 yrs. of age. I was pregnant with his soon to be born sister, Christina and Joe was helping me fold clothes in our kitchen in South Bend, Indiana. He was telling me that when he grew up he wanted to be the first Mexican-American President of the United States. During our conversation I asked him why and he quickly said, “because when I am President, I can end racism, mommy. As our conversation continued, Joey told me that the president could tell people to like everybody and look at how they were inside not how they looked on the outside. Well, though Joe still keeps his hand in the political world, I think it is safe to say that I think he has decided NOT to become the first Mexican-American President. However, Joe has remained true to his mission (goal) he has just found a different venue. I think of this today, because I believe we all played a part in making a little boys dream come true. Yesterday our nation spoke and elected a man not for his race ---they elected him to run our country because of who he is and what he stands for. Just as Joe & Chrissy’s dad and I supported them growing up and taught them they could be whatever they wanted to be, I have heard Barack Obama say the same of his family. Yesterday shows what is possible with hope and faith. I have been smiling and dancing all day. I hope you have too! Amazing Grace..how sweet the sound!

Thank you all for being in my life!!

Don't be scare of change! Except it, Embrace it! No one knows what the future holds but God! In the meantime, as business Women we seek chance and request that it happens.. We have come a long way and if you ask me Obama can't do worst then what some others have done.. All he can do is try to clean some of it up!

No one knows how to be the president! unless they have served previously! So instead of being apprehension, Have some belief in one man that honestly wants to make a change!

I feel more apprehension than hope. And to place hope for the economy in the hands of one of the men who helped create the mess we're in seems backwards to me. He has a lot to prove and I do hope he can measure up to the man he says he is.

Not all of us as hopefull as others. I would not want to receive these e-mails assumed that the whole country had voted for Obama. There is too much we still don't know wbout this man and the way he plans to govern. Let's not place so much out of control expectations. He is not the savior. He is just a man with aspirations like many of us.

Where there's hope, there's life!!
