Athena Young Professional Award Nomination Form
The Bermuda ATHENA International Award will accept nominations from throughout Bermuda. This prestigious Award honours exceptional individuals who have achieved excellence in their business or professions, have served the community in a meaningful way and have assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills.
The ATHENA International Award was first presented in 1982 in Lansing, Michigan, USA and has grown to include presentations to more than 5,000 individuals in hundreds of cities in the United States as well as in Canada, China, Russia and the United Kingdom, and now Bermuda in September 2008.
The ATHENA Award takes the form of a hand-cast bronze sculpture symbolizing the strength, courage and wisdom of the recipient. Martha Mertz, founder of the Athena Award, will present the Award, and lead an interactive 90-minute “World Café on Leadership.”
The Bermuda ATHENA Awards will cover values underlying ATHENA International’s philosophy of incorporating the talent and expertise of women into the leadership of our businesses, our communities and our government. The spirit of the ATHENA Award® Program is captured in a quotation from Plato, “What is honoured in a country will be cultivated there.” By honouring exceptional leaders, others will be encouraged to excel.
The Bermuda ATHENA International recipient will be selected based upon the highest level of nominations and will be invited to join the thousands of ATHENA International Award Recipients worldwide along with other business owners and professionals at the annual International ATHENA Leadership Summit which is scheduled for March 15-17, 2009 in Chicago, Illinois.
Nominations will be accepted until September 1, 2008 and forms may be downloaded or obtained at the Chamber of Commerce and participating institutions. Nominations should be submitted to:
